Corporate Responsibility

GXS promotes a variety of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs for our employees at work and in their private lives. These programs support community involvement, environmental awareness and action, and charitable giving. We proactively promote the public interest by encouraging community growth and development.

Our environmental sustainability programs exemplify our commitment to CSR. GXS has a “Green Team” focused on developing and implementing sustainable practices and policies for all GXS employees and offices. GXS green initiatives include Waste Reduction and Recycling, Energy Conservation, Environmentally Preferable Purchasing, Water Conservation and Alternative Transportation. The team consists of more than 30 people located in 10 different countries. In the course of their work, Green Team members also identify best practices that employees can follow at home, and encourage employees around the globe to take action within their private lives. The GXS Environmental Statement embodies both our convictions and commitments to sustainability.

While our efforts have helped to reduce GXS’s carbon footprint, we believe we can provide greater benefit by helping to educate and support our customers’ own sustainability efforts. To that end, we provide EDI products and services to help our customers reduce their own environmental impacts. We also offer resources and information on an industry website dedicated to green education: www.greensupplychain.com.

As part of the GXS business model, we participate in CSR programs and organizations such as Business for Social Responsibility (www.bsr.com), and the U.S. EPA Climate Leaders program. In addition, we promote the Environmental Defense Fund’s paper reduction programs and use their Paper Calculator when showing our clients the associated environmental benefits of reduced paper use.

In addition to these efforts, GXS partners with global charitable organizations to provide a venue for philanthropic initiatives. We encourage all of our employees to be active in the community to solve societal problems through a range of programs that combines both their individual efforts and financial support where they are needed most. GXS employees are dedicated to improving education, increasing economic development and alleviating humanitarian crises.

GXS encourages and supports our global employee efforts for social and environmental responsibility. By applying corporate standards, and rewarding creative individual environmental initiatives within each office, we strive to build on our CSR achievements with each coming year.
